How to Create & Use Stacks in Apple Fitness+

Apple Fitness+ introduced a new feature called Stacks alongside iOS 17. Stacks lets you organize your workouts in a queue, making it easy to transition to the next exercise without any interruptions.

In this article, we will provide a brief overview of the Apple Fitness+ feature and guide you on how to create and utilize your initial stack.

What do Stacks mean in Apple Fitness+?

A stack is a collection of various workouts, meditations, and mindful cooldowns that you can do consecutively. The advantage of using Stacks is that you can smoothly move from one activity to another without interrupting your exercise to search through the extensive Apple Fitness+ catalog.

Stacks are like playlists for your Fitness+ collection. You have the ability to make and store them in your Apple Fitness+ library, similar to how you can make and store playlists in Apple Music.

How to Create a Stack in Apple Fitness+

To create a stack, first, explore the Apple Fitness+ catalog to discover suitable activities for your routine. Pick one of the 12 workout types displayed at the top of the Fitness+ page. Next, select a variety of activity types to ensure a balanced exercise stack.

Once you have gathered sufficient content for your stack, proceed with the following instructions in the Fitness app on your iPhone:

  1. Go to the Fitness+ tab located at the bottom of your screen.
  2. Pick an activity and then tap the ellipsis () icon on the top-right corner of the screen.
  3. From the options that show up, tap on Add to Stack.

You can touch and hold an activity to make a pop-up menu appear. Then, tap on Add to Stack. The stack will show up as a colored square at the top of your menu, along with a number indicating the total activities in that stack.

Always make sure to include one of the amazing Mindful Cooldowns from Apple Fitness+ at the end, no matter what you decide to add to your stack.

Arranging and Making the Most of Stacks in Apple Fitness+

After finishing creating and adding activities to your stack, you can see it by tapping the colored square in the top-right corner of your screen. Then, choose from the options that appear. To begin your stack, just tap the Let’s Go button.

If you’re not prepared to exercise at the moment, tap the three dots (…) button in the upper-right corner to uncover the Add Stack to Library button. This will store your exercise stack until it’s time to work out.

It’s simple to modify and adjust your stack. If you want to change the sequence of exercises in your stack, just use the three horizontal lines on the right side of each activity. You can easily drag it up or down to position it wherever you prefer.

To remove an activity from your stack, swipe left on it and choose Delete. Lastly, to clear the entire stack and begin again, simply tap the ellipsis (…) icon in the top-right corner and select Clear Stack.

With the new feature in Apple Fitness+, you can now stack your workouts, giving you greater control over how you manage and utilize your valuable exercise time.

You have the freedom to explore the Apple Fitness+ catalog at your own pace and select as many activity types as you prefer. When you’re ready to complete your Activity Rings, the Fitness+ app can serve as your personal trainer, guiding you effortlessly through the activities you’ve chosen in the order you’ve determined.
