How To Turn on Auto-Scrolling on TikTok for a Hands-Free Experience

What Is Auto Scrolling?

Autoscrolling is a convenient feature that enables a webpage, document, or any other content to scroll automatically. This eliminates the need for users to manually move the scroll bar or click on the scroll arrows. Autoscrolling is commonly employed to enhance user engagement by continuously moving the content, thus preventing boredom. Additionally, it can be utilized to emphasize particular sections of the content or offer supplementary information as the user scrolls.

Auto-Scrolling on TikTok

Are you exhausted from endlessly scrolling through TikTok content with your thumb? You can now enjoy a hands-free experience with auto-scrolling. Learn how to activate it on your Android or iOS device with these simple steps:

On Android:

  1. Open the TikTok app and find a video. It can be on your For You page, Discover page, or someone’s profile.
  2. Tap and hold the video. This will bring up a small menu on the left side of the screen.
  3. Select “Auto scroll.” This will automatically start scrolling through the video and into your feed.
  4. To turn off auto-scrolling, simply tap and hold the screen again and select “Manual scroll.”

On iOS:

  1. Open the TikTok app and find a video. Just like on Android, you can choose any video from any section of the app.
  2. Tap and hold the center of the video. You might need to hold for a second or two for the menu to appear.
  3. Tap “Auto Scroll” from the pop-up menu. This will activate hands-free scrolling.
  4. To disable auto-scrolling, tap the screen again and select “Manual Scroll” from the menu.

Additional Notes:

  • Not all TikTok accounts currently have the auto-scrolling feature. If you can’t find the “Auto scroll” option in the menu, don’t worry, it may be added to your account shortly.
  • Auto-scrolling is handy, but it may cause you to overlook captivating details in videos. Utilize it judiciously when you genuinely desire a hands-free encounter.
  • If you are worried about children using auto-scrolling and possibly coming across inappropriate content, it is a good idea to use parental controls or other safety measures.
